NEW IDEA
I know I'm pushing it but I just couldn't have the footage I already had because every time I'd go to edit it, it made me so frustrated that it wasn't to the best of my ability.
So my final idea is:
This guy who is trying to win back his girl which hence the title of the song, "I Won't Give Up On Us". He's desperately trying to win her back but she's not having it.
You see him rummaging around his house looking for things to make something, in the end we see him make a guitar or piano which ever is easier. Then he takes an empty tin can and ties a bit of string to the inside of the can and rolls the remaining string into an envelope. He then drops the envelope out the window and let's the wind take it to the female.
I wanted this because in the song it says "God knows I'm tough enough" and then i want the wind to represent God or a greater force to take the envelope to the girl, as if to say that it's been left into fate's hands. Linking lyrics to visuals within the music video.
We see the girl open the envelope as she leaves her house to go shopping or to walk the dog and then she goes back into the house with the envelope and puts the string into an empty tin and then she puts the tin to her ear and she hears him singing "I won't give up on us, even if the skies get rough, I'm giving you all my love I know your worth it".
I'll be using some of Goodwin's Seven such as a textual link between lyrics and visuals and close up's of the most important object/person in the sequence.

AHHHHHHH!
My footage for my final idea is terrible! I imported all of my footage and started editing in final cut and it's hugely disappointing!!!
Because my idea was to speed up all the clips and play them in reverse I don't have enough footage nor does it look good...
Now I have to think up a new idea and start filming again! There is just no way I can possibly make this work and make it look good!!
I'll let you know how it goes!!!

VLOGGING ON SET!!
This is a short vlog (video blog) whilst recording some footage for my music video.
My other locations are a bedroom (seen in Image 1) and a street in Elmswell (shown in Image 2). I wanted to use these locations for the more intimate scenes with Asami where we really see her character because they're homely and I always feel that at home your true colours really show.

As you can see her bedroom is low lit and dark. I used this lighting to represent and suggest that so is her character.

NEXT LOCATION
In this next location we used an old graffitied bridge (image 3) to represent the lyric "written in graffiti on a bridge in the park". I wanted this so that I could include Goodwin's theory of the seven and by including the bridge alongside the lyrics I have included the link between lyric and visuals.
I then featured shots of open fields (image 4 & 5) that were simplistic and picturesque to represent that Jack's and my character's relationship was easy and open.

My Final Idea
My Final idea is of a girl who used to date a boy who used his "heart as a weapon and it hurts like heaven". It didn't work out and they split but my girl (Asami) is the antagonist because she could never move on.
She sees my main male character (Jack) with another girl and she gets extremely jealous and psychotic. Asami dresses to impress Jack but he doesn't notice her because he's moved on, her room is plastered in pictures of Jack as if she was stalking him. The video will end with him going back to her and seeing all the pictures but because I want to play my whole video in reverse and sped up, this will actually be the beginning. By doing this I want to show the audience that even though things may end up bad they once were good and good things can come out of them.
But because my ending shot is of Jack standing in an empty school hallway I want to leave the audience with a subconscious message of whether they'd still do things even if they end up bad? If even though at the time you were infatuated and in love, you're left with a mess at the end of it.
I am basing my narrative mainly on the one line i have quoted previously, (you use your heart as a weapon and it hurts like heaven). I think that this means that your love can be a weapon but it hurts in a positive way, thus using heaven as the simile rather than hell. It can make you give up on any hatred and suffering, stop self - inflicting pain, whether it be mentally or physically.
So my narrative is that at the time of Asami and Jack's relationship it didn't work out and so she was left to dwell in her own self pity but he moved on and found a new 'victim'.
Asami becomes mentally disturbed and jealousy takes over all her emotions.
THE CHARACTERS
This is my female lead played by Asami. I chose to dress her up in some scenes then show the effort she has to go through to emphasise the effort she's putting in to get Jack to notice her again. (The purple jacket and pink toms are not included!)
As you can see one side of her character is wearing white and neutral colours this is to connote that to the outside world she has this image of innocence and purity.
However, in the picture on the left i've dressed in casual dark clothing to show her real self after her facade has been let down.
For Jack's outfits I wanted to keep them simple and modern. Because he's portraying the modern day teen.
For my outfit i wanted to look casual because I want to portray that you don't have to make the huge effort that Asami's character has to go through to win the affection of a guy whose lost his attraction towards you.
I decided to use teen actors so that my target audience can relate to the characters and narrative more.

FINAL SONG CHOICE IS...
COLDPLAY'S - HURTS LIKE HEAVEN
I chose this as my final song because it was upbeat and fast. And using my audience research the majority of votes for what sort of music video they liked they answered a fast paced narrative.
Music Video Ideas
I started out with 3 Main song ideas and video narratives.
My first was to take Beyonce's - Love on Top and make a video based on choreography and different types of dance. With many split screens and fast paced editing. However, after researching many student's past work I found that many of videos based on dancing didn't turn out as well as those with a set narrative.
The music video was released during planning (just like Taylor's song) and the video was based on dance and costume changes. Even though my initial idea wasn't EXACTLY like Beyonce's, I thought it was too similar.
Next I would use John Mayer's - Don't Stop this Train. This would be about a girl trying to find the colour in her life again after going to places where nothing really felt like home. The whole video would be in black and white and shows a journey through the black and white times until she reaches her destination, which would be in colour. The final scene showing the colour back in her life would be shown by being faded in.
Throughout the video i would be overlaying two clips over each other in split screens. The reason i decided not to use this idea as my final idea is because it'd be hard and expensive to be able to get on the train and find different stops to be able to get off and film around. Plus the final destination may be extremely busy.

My final idea was Ours - Taylor Swift. The narrative for this would be based entirely on a love story, the conventional boy/girl soppy story. Unfortunately, during my time of planning this the music video was released and was based on the same plot as mine. I felt that it was too similar to mine therefore didn't decide to make this my final idea.
As you can see the narrative of this is based on a girl whose boyfriend is stationed in the army. It follows the story of Taylor (the girlfriend) having to go to work and deal with all the gossiping and speculations about her and her life.
